Cinepop is a regional cinema located in the suburbs of a metropolitan area, committed to providing an exceptional movie-going experience for all patrons. The Cinepop mobile app will include a convenient feature that allows users to order snacks at their leisure, eliminating wait times and enhancing the overall experience.
UX/UI designer is responsible for creating a movie theater snack ordering app for Cinepop from initial concept through to final delivery. This role includes conducting interviews, developing both paper and digital wireframes, creating low and high-fidelity prototypes, performing usability studies, ensuring accessibility considerations, and iterating on design solutions.
I conducted interviews and developed empathy maps to gain a deeper understanding of users and their needs. Our research identified young adults as a primary user group, particularly averse to waiting in lines and often pressed for time when ordering snacks. While this confirmed some initial assumptions about Cinepop Theater customers, further investigation revealed that time constraints were not the sole barriers. Users also encountered challenges related to personal obligations, varying interests, and difficulties accessing the concession stand. Notable pain points included:
Based on these insights, I created user personas to represent the prospective audience. These personas served as a constant reminder to design with the diverse needs of users in mind.
While several companies present potential competition to Cinepop, none directly compete in the same space. However, they could influence Cinepop's revenue and popularity. This presents an opportunity for Cinepop to integrate features from these competitors to create a streamlined, comprehensive service that avoids overwhelming users with excessive choices. Although many features across competitors are similar, key differences identified include:

To facilitate usability testing, I developed a low-fidelity prototype that outlines the user flow for completing an exercise routine. You can view the prototype via the link below.
Cinepop Low-Fidelity Prototype
I conducted two rounds of usability studies. Findings from the first study helped guide the designs from wireframes to mockups. The second study used a high-fidelity prototype and revealed what aspects of the mockups needed refining. The usability study findings included using easy access to update their contact information, additional button to add more items to their shopping cart and easily navigate back to the snack menu.
The high-fidelity prototype maintained the same user flow as the low-fidelity version, incorporating design modifications based on feedback from the usability study. You can view the prototype via the link below.

During the design process for the Cinepop Theaters mobile snack app, I realized that the initial ideas are merely the starting point. Usability studies and peer feedback played a crucial role in shaping each iteration of the app's designs.
