The Keyswitch

UI Design, Web Design, User Flow

Project Overview

The "Pressing Forward" keyswitches landing page was created as an educational resource for those new to the different types of keyswitches. Its goal is to offer users a thorough understanding of the various options available.

My Contributions

As a designer, I developed the initial version of the keyswitch landing page and continued to refine it through multiple iterations over several months. This process involved creating various sections and educational resources, as well as collaborating with marketing managers on a design system to better educate new users about keyswitches.

Project Challenges

The landing page underwent numerous revisions to ensure that the content was both educational and concise, serving as a valuable resource for our readers. We removed some sections to emphasize more crucial aspects of the keyswitches. For example, we cut a detailed comparison between hot-swapped and soldered keyswitches and a chart that broadly compared the key features of our various keyswitches.

I collaborated closely with the Marketing Manager, offering several recommendations to enhance the user-friendliness of the content. Given my limited advanced knowledge of keyswitches, I found some of the technical details challenging to understand.

I made a list of suggestions below that would hopefully make an overall better user experience including adding a section that clarifies the differences between mechanical and membrane keyboards, which would benefit those new to PC gaming.

Simplifying the "Switch Basics" section to make it more accessible. Providing a more detailed explanation of each type of switch in the "How a Switch Works" subsection.

Clarifying how Corsair's switch lineup relates to traditional Linear, Tactile, and Clicky types, as the current information that was somewhat ambiguous and improving the flow between sections for better coherence.

The Outcome

Even after launching the keyswitch educational landing page was not complete. There were constant iterations on the content and later additions including adding video assets and animation to show different variations of keyswitch movement among the different types and the click sound for comparison of each type.
